Training camp officially oppened in Pt. St. Lucie, Florida for pitchers and catchers today, and both Santana and Martinez had some time on the mound. Though it's cold here in New York, today I saw the first sign of spring, and its a happy sight.
I've been a New York Mets fan all of my life. The 2006 season was the first I'd paid a lot of attention to in a decade, and in the process was reminded of the positive role of fandom in my life. In 2007, I wanted to remember it all, so I started this blog. I was just as engaged with the 2008 season as I had been the year before, but couldn’t find the time to blog about it as regularly as I feel a baseball blog needs to be updated to stay at all interesting. Now that it's 2009, I want again to write about the joys and sorrows of being a Mets fan, and so This Fan's Seasons continue.
This Fan's Seasons is about how I experience being a baseball fan and a Mets fan in my life.
This blog is less about baseball than it is about the experience of being a baseball fan, so if you're looking for in-depth game-by-game analysis, there are many other blogs and newspapers I can happily recommend (most are listed in the blogroll above). Though I do get into game analysis sometimes, it's not my goal nor my interest to be an exhaustive source on the ins-and-outs of any particular game.
If you want to read and converse about how it feels to be a dedicated fan, you're in the right place.
